I've heard this short story somewhere; so would like to share with all of you.
This couple was very happy. For the past 5 years they have been dating each other; from the time their college started.
They would always be together through thick and thin. As their college came to an end, they told about their relationship to their parents. Their parents were happy too to know about their relationship. They fixed their engagement and marriage.
On their engagement day their parents gave them a book and had opened a joint account for them. While handing it to them they told this couple that they should deposit money on every happy moment be, it a large amount or small and that they should make an entry of that monent in the book given.
And they followed it. They would deposit money on all their memorable days, whenever they felt that this day was perfect.
Days were passing by beautifully. Their wedding day was nearing.
They got married. Days were passing by and so was their love. Ego was playing it's part now in their married life. It had been 3 months now that they had been married. But somehow they weren't really happy. Fights and arguments were happening everyday. Their happy moments were turning to be a disaster. They were having second thoughts about their marriage. Finally they spoke about it to their parents.
Their parents were worried but even knew that deep within their hearts away from their egos, their love still existed. They simply told them to withdraw the money from their account. The girl then went to the bank and was standing in the que to withdraw the money. While in the que, she opened the book given to them by their parents in which they would make regular entries. She read through it. Tears piled up in her eyes. She got back home without withdrawing the money. She sat in the couch. When her husband asked her whether she withdrew the money, she handed him that book and he started reading it. Eyes welled up. They looked up at each other and then hugged tightly. Said sorry to each other.
This is how they forgot their egos and saved their marriage!
Even you can try something similar. It may be of some help
